Note: Spartacus 4.x was tested with SAP Commerce Cloud versions 1905 to 2205. Spartacus 4.x has not been verified to work with (and is not guaranteed to work with) SAP Commerce Cloud 2211 or later releases.

Spartacus ensures accessibility by adhering to the success criteria of the the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The following sections describe the extent to which Spartacus complies with the WCAG criteria.

Core Theme Accessibility

Starting with version 5.0, Spartacus features comply with the following success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1:

  • 1.3.2, Level A, Meaningful sequence.
  • 1.3.3, Level A, Two Senses Concept.
  • 1.3.4, Level AA, Orientation.
  • 1.3.5, Level AA, Identify Input Purpose.
  • 1.4.1, Level A, Use of color.
  • 1.4.3, Level AA, Minimum Contrast.
  • 1.4.4, Level AA, Text Resizing up to 200 percent.
  • 1.4.5, Level AA, Images of text.
  • 1.4.10, Level AA, Reflow.
  • 1.4.11, Level AA, Non-Text Contrast.
  • 2.4.5, Level AA, Multiple Ways to Find Content.
  • 2.5.2, Level A, Pointer Cancellation.
  • 2.5.3, Level A, Label in Name.
  • 3.2.4, Level AA, Consistent Use of Identical UI-Elements.

Core theme accessibility is mostly theme-related. Both the Sparta and Santorini themes in Spartacus conform to the standards listed above.

Note: When customizing either of these themes, it is possible for your customizations to remove conformance with the WCAG criteria.

Keyboard Accessibility

Starting with version 2.0, Spartacus features comply with the following success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1:

  • 2.1.1, Level A, Keyboard
  • 2.1.2, Level A, No Keyboard Trap
  • 2.4.1, Level A, Bypass Blocks
  • 2.4.3, Level A, Focus Order
  • 2.4.7, Level AA, Focus Visible
  • 3.2.3, Level AA, Consistent Navigation

When combined all together, these criteria provide Spartacus with keyboard accessibility.

Screen Reader Accessibility

Starting with version 5.0, Spartacus features comply with the following success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.:

  • 1.1.1, Level A, Non-Text Content
  • 1.3.1, Level A, Info and Relationships
  • 2.4.2, Level A, Page Titled
  • 2.4.4, Level A, Link Purpose
  • 2.4.6, Level AA, Headings and Labels
  • 2.5.3, Level A, Label in Name
  • 3.3.2, Level A, Labels or Instructions
  • 3.1.1, Level A, Language of Page
  • 3.2.1, Level A, On Focus
  • 3.2.2, Level A, On Input
  • 3.3.1, Level A, Error Identification
  • 3.3.3, Level AA, Error Suggestion
  • 3.3.4, Level AA, Error Prevention
  • 4.1.1, Level A, Parsing

When combined all together, these criteria provide Spartacus with screen reader accessibility.

Media Accessibility

Starting with version 5.0, Spartacus includes a video player. This feature complies with the following success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1:

  • 1.4.2, Level A, Animation, Audio and Video Control
  • 2.2.2, Level A, Hide controls
  • 2.3.1, Level A, Avoidance of Flickering and Flashing Content

Other Accessibility Conformance

In accordance with the WCAG 2.1 definition of conformance, if there is no content to which a success criterion applies, the success criterion is satisfied. As a result, the following criteria are satisfied because they do not apply to Spartacus:

  • 1.2.4, Level AA, Captions (Live)
  • 2.1.4, Level A, Character Key Shortcuts
  • 2.5.4, Level A, Motion Actuation
